Washburn WR 120 Reviews 3

I bought this guitar as part of a starter package about 3 years ago. The whole package was purchased from a store called "Music go round" in Wisconsin for $150-$200. I really wasn't sure what I wanted to play at the time, so the sales person reccomended this one over another package.

Structurally it's sturdy. I've beaten it up a fair bit and it hasn't died yet. It stays in tune for the most part, though I've never gone for long periods of time becuase I keep accidentally hitting the keys.

It's not the best guitar, thats for sure. After about a year little things started going wrong. I hadn't played it much during that year, so don't judge on that time. The nut that holds the little dealy you plug your cable into is constantly coming loose. This is of course bad. The volume dial has a strange problem. You can take the volume all the way to the top where it will stop, but then at the bottom, while still effective, it tries to keep going, like it's slightly broken. I had problems with the humbucker: First, a screw managed to come out of the plate holding it down, then a screw holding the humbucker up came out, so half of it sank into the guitar.

Once again, it's not the best guitar on the market. It's not meant to take the beating of a dedicated guitar player, as I think Washburn is hoping you'll buy a better one before the WR120 starts falling apart. It's fairly solid. I chipped a bit off the finish off and revealed wood, so that's not good. It has a bolt on neck and a rosewood fingerboard- I think. There is one volume dial and one tone dial. Also, a 5 way switch. It has through body stringing with 2 single coils towards the neck and a humbucker farther down.

Once again, it's not the best guitar on the market. It's not meant to take the beating of a dedicated guitar player, as I think Washburn is hoping you'll buy a better one before the WR120 starts falling apart. This package is good for a beginner. It plays rather heavy but with a 5 way switch you can get a fair variety of sounds.
